Setting sail from America, your journey by yacht will take you through the formidable Drake Passage, where the confluence of three oceans creates some of the most turbulent seas on Earth – the Pacific, the Atlantic, and the distinct Southern Ocean. This unique body of water nurtures endemic species, confined by unseen currents despite the seemingly open expanse. Prepare to be captivated by the intriguing facts and profound explanations that this passage holds.
Perhaps the most profound challenge for me, as one who has ventured to write a book about Antarctica, is the stark realization that no mere words can truly capture the overwhelming tapestry of impressions gathered, even within a single day. And no photograph, however stunning, can fully convey the unique atmosphere that envelops you in this extraordinary place. As I search for the right phrases to inscribe in my notebook, I am confronted by the humbling truth that language itself seems to fall short.

Nevertheless, my dream extended beyond merely witnessing Antarctica. Just as fervently, I yearned to write a book about it. This endeavor took me three years, but I believe I have succeeded in capturing its essence. In this book, an attempt is made to synthesize and convey to the reader the integral world of Antarctica — a cold, ice-bound, uninhabited, and still little-studied region. It extends to the continent of Antarctica and the Southern Ocean with its many islands. I also had the privilege of working on numerous other Antarctic projects, including this very site you are currently visiting. This site, like all my Antarctic projects, is dedicated to sharing the wonders of Antarctica.
So, welcome to Antarctica!

The Story of a Dream
“NoPolarBears” is about a big dream come true: Antarctica, sailing the ocean, living on a research station, and sharing the experience.
This site is a deep yearning to share the essence of Antarctica – stories whispered on the wind, the stark reality of its facts, the vibrant hues painting its landscapes, the echoing silence, and even the intangible scents and textures. I want to weave a narrative so compelling that it feels as though an invisible hand has gently but firmly tugged you along, leading you to Ushuaia, the world’s southernmost city, your gateway to this frozen realm.
